My Support in the Election Goes To....

I recall a social work class a while back when we were talking about politics. One of the students stated that they thought that social workers should be neutral in who they publicly support in politics. Others disagreed vehemently. As do I. I think that if we are trying to bring about social change, politically is going to be a BIG way that it comes about.

In light of this, I am publicly declaring that I am a supporter of the NDP. I thought about remaining neutral on this blog, but then I thought about the off chance that someone might happen upon here and the possibility that I might be able to influence them. It's only a slight chance, but I'm willing to risk it.

In supporting the NDP, I am supporting a strong leader in Jack Layton, a party that is progressive on most issues, one that stands up for women and minorities, and most importantly, a party whose overall policies I generally agree.

I will be sporting a  banner for the NDP on my blog until the election is over. Please click through on it and check them out.

I absolutely agree about there not being any need to remain neutral in politics. Engaging in active politics is something that I think is necessary.

I'm glad you're expressing yourself. I do in real life, too. In fact, I'm so obsessed with this election, I have not gotten anything done for months. It's more fear that I will only blog about politics if I let myself open that door. Kudos for the political action!
